NAN KHATAI
Ingredients
- 1 cup maida
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp vanilla essence
- 1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsps chopped cashews or whole if you want to just place one on top of each cookie.
Here is how you make these wonderful and tasty NAN KHATAI cookies.
- Add 1 tsp cardamom powder, 1/4 tsp saffron and soak in 1 tbsp hot water a few minutes.
- Seive flour and baking powder together.
- Add vanilla essence.
- Mix ghee and sugar till creamy.
- Add the flour mixture,the saffron and cardomom .
- Knead well and make into small balls.
- Flatten and place on greased tray.
- Dip a fingertip in water and dab on the centre of each ball of dough.
- Now press a few cashewnut bits on top of each circle of dough or place one on top.
- Bake in oven till cooked for about 20-25 mins at 375 deg.
- Place on tray then offer and serve.
