Cookies




NAN KHATAI



Ingredients

  • 1 cup maida
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsps chopped cashews or whole if you want to just place one on top of each cookie.

    Here is how you make these wonderful and tasty NAN KHATAI cookies.
  1. Add 1 tsp cardamom powder, 1/4 tsp saffron and soak in 1 tbsp hot water a few minutes.

  2. Seive flour and baking powder together.

  3. Add vanilla essence.

  4. Mix ghee and sugar till creamy.

  5. Add the flour mixture,the saffron and cardomom .

  6. Knead well and make into small balls.

  7. Flatten and place on greased tray.

  8. Dip a fingertip in water and dab on the centre of each ball of dough.

  9. Now press a few cashewnut bits on top of each circle of dough or place one on top.

  10. Bake in oven till cooked for about 20-25 mins at 375 deg.

  11. Place on tray then offer and serve.
